Works with 1/16" or 1/8" tubing so can be used with analytical or prep systems. You set a baseline threshold and it monitors the baseline. When a peak elutes, the eluent is diverted to waste. Then when baseline returns the eluent is recycled to the eluent bottle. This only is of use for isocratic systems
